On December 8, 2025, Primakara University carried out a Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) at SMK Wira Harapan, focusing on the theme “Enhancing Travel Photography Competence for Students.” The activity was led by Dharma Prasetya Irawan, S.Sn., M.Sn., a lecturer at Primakara University, and was supported by student representatives who actively contributed to the implementation of the program.
This initiative was designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills in the field of travel photography, which continues to grow in relevance alongside the rapid expansion of digital content and creative industries. During the training session, participants were introduced to fundamental photography techniques, including composition, lighting, angle selection, and the effective use of available tools to capture visually appealing images.
In addition to technical skills, students were also guided on how to create compelling travel content that tells a story and captures the uniqueness of a location. The session emphasized the importance of visual storytelling as a powerful medium for communication, particularly in the context of social media and digital platforms. Participants also learned how to build strong and consistent visual branding, enabling them to present their work more professionally and align it with current digital trends.
The training was conducted in an interactive and hands-on format, allowing students to directly apply the concepts they had learned. This approach encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and active participation throughout the session. Students demonstrated great enthusiasm as they explored new techniques and experimented with capturing their own travel-style photographs.
Through this activity, students are expected to enhance their creative competencies and develop the ability to produce high-quality visual content that is competitive in the creative industry. Furthermore, the program aims to inspire students to explore opportunities in photography and digital content creation as potential career paths.
This PKM activity reflects Primakara University’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development of young people’s competencies through the integration of education, creativity, and technology. By delivering relevant and practical learning experiences, the university continues to contribute to the preparation of a skilled and future-ready generation.
